Eishin Flash wins Japanese Derby to become the fifth G1 winner for King’s Best

Mr. Toyomitsu Hirai's Eishin Flash became the fifth Group One winner for his sire King's Best when landing the Japanese Derby in Tokyo on Sunday.

A son of the Platini mare Moonlady, Eishin Flash also won the G3 Keisei Hai in January and was third in the Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2,000 Guineas) last month.

His triumph at the highest level continues a superb 2010 for Haras du Logis resident King’s Best, whose sons Workforce and Simon de Montfort are two of the leading fancies for Saturday’s Derby at Epsom and the Prix du Jockey-Club at Chantilly the following day, while the unbeaten Darley-bred filly Sajjhaa heads to Friday's Oaks following her highly impressive seven-length maiden win at Sandown.

On Dubai World Cup night in March, King’s Best was represented by G2 Godolphin Mile winner Calming Inflluence and Allybar, who was beaten just a nose and a short-head in the big race itself.

King’s Best’s other top-flight winners are his fellow Darley stallion Creachadoir, Proclamation, King’s Apostle and Dubai Surprise.

Tiger Hill sired a brace of Stakes winners in Europe on Saturday when fiver-year-old Abbashiva landed the G3 Badener Meile and Young Tiger won the Listed Grand Prix du Bordeaux. On the same card, Singspiel three-year-old Lawspeaker was successful in the Listed Prix Derby du Midi. Lawspeaker is out of Forum Floozie, a Danasinga half-sister to Group One winner Starcraft.
