First winner for Masterstroke

Medyna records an easy victory to become the first successful runner for her first-season sire

Masterstroke recently recorded his first winner, when his daughter Medyna ran out the impressive winner of a seven-furlong conditions race at Warsaw, Poland.

Medyna was initially settled in midfield but soon moved up to dispute the lead and once entering the home straight, quickened impressively to move clear of her rivals. Despite being pressed hard close to home, she kept on well to win by a length.

Medyna was bred in France by Le Haras d’Haspel and is the first foal out of the Redback mare Makarie. She is from the family of G3 Prix de la Porte Maillot winner Hamada, plus fellow Stakes winners AP Grand Prix, Bird and Music and Luring.

Masterstroke won his only start at two, going on to land the G2 Grand Prix de Deauville at three. He also finished third in the G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, where he beat all other three-year-olds, including Camelot.

Masterstroke stands at Haras du Logis in France.
