First Stakes win for daughter of Manduro

Red Stars lands the Listed Lenebane Stakes at Roscommon

Manduro recorded a new Stakes winner on 4 July when his three-year-old daughter Red Stars ran out the determined winner of the Listed Lenebane Stakes, run over 11 and three-quarter furlongs at Roscommon.

The John Oxx-trained filly was settled on the rail just off the pace under Declan McDonogh and once asked to quicken two furlongs from home, took up the running and kept to her task superbly to win by two and a quarter lengths. This was the second career victory for Red Stars, who won at the same course last September.

Red Stars was bred by Maurice Regan and is out of the winning Galileo mare Magen’s Star, a half-sister to the dam of multiple G1 winner Simple Verse.

Manduro is now sire of 22 individual Black type winners, six of whom have won at G1 level.
