First mares scanned in foal to Rio de la Plata

Maka and Madrilene test positive to new Darley stallion

New Haras du Logis stallion Rio de la Plata, winner of the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere as a juvenile, has had his first mares scanned in foal.

The first was the Stakes-placed juvenile Maka, a daughter of fellow Haras du Logis stallion Slickly, who was runner-up in the Listed Prix de la Vallee d’Auge at Deaville over 1000m. She was shortly followed by the Maiden mare Madrilene, a daughter of El Prado out of the G1-winner Lignify.

Rio de la Plata, who stands at €7,000 Oct 1st SLF, was the winner of three top-flight races and defeated 27 G1-winners in a superb career. His initial book of mares includes 20 that are either Stakes horses of dams of Stakes horses. He is also due to cover the close relatives of top-grade runners Braiswick, Literato, Queen’s Logic, Paita and Salve Regina.
