First mares in foal for Darley duo

Teofilo’s sister in foal to Manduro; positive scans for Authorized

New stallions Authorized and Manduro have both this week had their first mares return positive scans.

The trio in foal to 2007 Horse of the Year Manduro are Teofilo's full-sister Senora Galilei, owned by Mr and Mrs Jim Bolger, Gold Bust (Nashwan) and Purple Spirit (Sadler’s Wells).

The Derby winner has the Diesis mares Isle Of Spice and Sharp Mode in foal. The former is the dam of Oaks d’Italia winner Zanzibar (In The Wings) and Listed winner New Guinea (Fantastic Light).

On the racecourse, a pair of Darley stallions both had Listed winners on 28 February at Nad Al Sheba. Mutamarres, a five-year-old by Green Desert, is currently in flying form for his owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum having won his last three starts including division one of the Al Quoz Sprint.

Third Set (Royal Applause) has only been beaten once in his last six starts when he was second on his first outing in Dubai on 17 January. He won three weeks after that and on Thursday took division two of the Zabeel Mile by a length and a half from the British-trained Metropolitan Man.
