First Group victory for regally bred son of Dubawi

Royal Line gamely takes the G3 September Stakes

Another week, another new Group winner for Dubawi as his son Royal Line ran on to take the G3 September Stakes at Kempton on Saturday, 7 September. Chasing the leaders, the progressive colt was shaken up two furlongs out by jockey Robert Havlin, running on to win by one and a quarter lengths.

A Darley homebred, Royal Line hails from an illustrious family. He is a half-brother to the G2 Grand Prix de Deauville winner Masterstroke and the G3 Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial victor Moonlight Magic as well as Villarrica, second dam of G1 Derby hero Masar. They are out of the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes winner and dual classic placed Melikah, a half-sister to the multiple G1 winner’s Galileo and Sea The Stars, out of the blue hen and G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe heroine Urban Sea.

The exceptional Dubawi is the sire of 41 individual G1 winners including this season’s dual G1 victors Too Darn Hot and Coronet. Last week saw a runaway win in the G1 Grosser Preis von Baden for his son Ghaiyyath as well as an impressive victory in the G3 Prix de Lutece by the three-year-old colt Moonlight Spirit.
