First G1 victory for daughter of Teofilo

Donjah lands the Preis von Europa at Cologne

Donjah, a lightly raced four-year-old daughter of Teofilo, landed her biggest career triumph on Saturday, 15 August when taking the G1 Preis von Europa. Held up near the rear early, she made her move on the outside in the straight, running on well to get on top near the finish over Kaspar and Dame Maillot.

An unbeaten juvenile when winning the G3 Herzog von Ratibor-Rennen, Donjah was third in the corresponding race last season before going on to win the G2 Gran Premio del Jockey Club in Italy. Her career record now stands at four wins from nine career starts.

Bred by Gestut Karlshof, she is out of the Stakes-performer mare Dyanamore and from the extended family of German G1 winner Earl Of Tinsdal.

Teofilo has now sired ten Stakes winners in 2020 including three thrilling G1 scorers. Exultant was named Hong Kong horse of the season with two of his five top-flight triumphs coming this year, while Tawkeel became France’s leading three-year-old filly with a wide-margin win in the Prix Saint Alary. Twilight Payment has won two Group races including a wide-margin win in the G2 Curragh Cup.
