First foal for G1-winning miler Territories

‘Very good filly’ out of half-sister to Sayif safely arrives

G1 Prix Jean Prat winner and 2,000 Guineas second Territories has become the latest Darley stallion to welcome the arrival of his first reported foal, following the birth of a filly at Fernham Farm in Oxfordshire on Wednesday, 25 January.

Described by her breeder Kevin McAuliffe as “a very good filly”, she is out of the Oasis Dream mare Aarti, a half-sister to smart sprinter Sayif, winner of the G2 Diadem Stakes and placed in the G1 Middle Park Stakes at two. Another of the mare’s half-brothers, Hunter Street, was also a speedy performer, winning the G3 Cornwallis Stakes and finishing second in the G2 Flying Childers.

Territories was a tremendous performer for Godolphin and trainer Andre Fabre, finishing second in the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at two (beaten just half a length), before landing the G1 Prix Jean Prat at three.

He hails from a superb family that includes fellow Darley stallion Shamardal and the late, great Street Cry.

Territories stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £12,000, October 1, Special Live Foal.
