First foal for Casamento

Zamarelle produces a filly by the talented G1 winner

The first reported foal by Casamento arrived today.

Bred by Dermot Cantillon, the filly – who is chestnut like her sire – is out of the Zamindar mare Zamarelle. The dam is a half-sister to G1 performer King’s County and a further five winners.

Her breeder described the foal, who was born at the Irish National Stud as, “a very good size with plenty of bone”. Tinnakill's stud manager Ian Thompson was also glowing in praise, "She is a superb filly, we are delighted. Great size and substance for a first foal, strong limbed with great bone; everything we were hoping for."

Casamento won three of his four starts as a juvenile, winning on his debut before finishing second in the G1 National Stakes on only his second start. He then went on to win the G2 Beresford by four lengths before taking the G1 Racing Post Trophy.

He stands alongside his sire Shamardal at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €5,000 October 1st Special Live Foal.
