Excelebration cruises to G2 glory

Son of Exceed And Excel wins Hungerford Stakes by six-lengths

Exceed And Excel's three-year-old son Excelebration landed his second G2 contest of the year when running away with the Hungerford Stakes over seven-furlongs at Newbury. Already a classic winner when landing the German 2,000 Guineas by seven-lengths, today's margin of victory only failed by a length to match that impressive triumph.

Bred by Owenstown Stud and sold to his trainer Marco Botti for £20,000 as a yearling, he is out of the Indian Ridge mare Sun Shower.

Excelebration is one of 16 Stakes winners for Exceed And Excel in 2011 including Helmet, the dual G1-winning juvenile in Australia, the unbeaten G2 Queen Mary heroine Best Terms, who has also been given a five-day entry in the G1 Nunthorpe Stakes on Friday August 19 alongside Exceed And Excel's G2-winning sprinter Masamah.
