Exceedingly impressive season continues

Kulgrinda becomes the latest Stakes-winner for her sire Exceed And Excel

Exceed And Excel has been enjoying a benchmark season with his juveniles this season, but on July 30 it was an impressive three-year-old filly flying the flag for her sire. At just her fifth start, Kulgrinda raced like a seasoned campaigner settling mid-field before drawing away upon entering the straight to win the Reliance Stakes over 1050m at Morphettville, comfortably by a length-and-a-half.

Kulgrinda (ex River Crossing) was bred by David Moodie and gave Exceed and Excel his eighth-individual Stakes-winner in Australia this season. River Crossing, a half-sister to G1 winner River Dove, is once again booked to visit Exceed And Excel this season.

Kulgrinda is one of 16 Stakes winners for Exceed And Excel in 2011 including Helmet, the dual G1-winning juvenile in Australia, this weeks G2-winning sprinting star Masamah, the unbeaten G2 Queen Mary heroine Best Terms and German Classic winner Excelebration.
