Exceed And Excel starts the New Year with a bang

Rewarding Hero flies home to land the valuable Chinese Club Challenge Cup at Sha Tin

Exceed And Excel, sire of 33 Group and Stakes horses in 2014 including G1 winners Amber Sky and Earthquake, made a fantastic start to the new year with an impressive win for his son Rewarding Hero in the seven-furlong Chinese Club Challenge Cup at Sha Tin.

Settled at the rear of the field under jockey Neil Callan, Rewarding Hero travelled well throughout and coming wide around the final turn, swept down the home straight and outbattled the well-fancied All You Wish to prevail by a short head.

Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock, Rewarding Hero is out of the Group-placed Soviet Star mare Caldy Dance, all of whose foals to race have become winners. She is also dam of the multiple Group-placed Dance And Dance.

Exceed And Excel, sire of nine individual G1 winners to date, remains the world’s leading sire of two-year-old winners, Group and Listed winners and Stakes horses. He stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €40,000 October 1st SLF.
