Easy victory for Agent Murphy

Son of Cape Cross takes the Listed Buckhounds Stakes

The lightly-raced four-year-old Cape Cross colt Agent Murphy made an excellent seasonal debut at Ascot on Saturday May 9, when running out the very easy three length victor of the Listed Buckhounds Stakes, with Dubawi’s game colt Red Galileo back in second. Only making his racecourse debut in May last year, today’s victory was his third in five starts and he has never been out of the first three.

Bred by Wellsummers Farm, Agent Murphy is a son of the Dansili mare Raskutani, who is herself a half-sister to Cape Cross’s G2-winning juvenile Hatta Fort.

Cape Cross is fast approaching the 100 Stakes winner mark with today’s victor being his 97th. In 2015 alone, Cape Cross has sired six Stakes winners including a pair of impressive three-year-olds in Karpino, the unbeaten winner of the G3 Dr Busch Memorial, and the Listed Feilden Stakes hero Golden Horn, who is entered in the G2 Dante Stakes at York next week.

Cape Cross stands at a fee of €20,000 Oct 1st, SLF.
