Dubawi’s Glorious Journey takes G2 at Meydan

Lands Al Fahidi Fort to record his fifth Stakes win

Glorious Journey ensured he maintained his record of winning during every season he has raced, taking the feature contest of the night at Meydan on Thursday, 23 January, the G2 Al Fahidi Fort.

Charlie Appleby’s charge was held up early on under James Doyle and was fourth at the halfway stage. Asked to quicken once approaching the final furlong marker, Glorious Journey took the lead inside the final half-furlong and kept on well to win by three quarters of a length from Mythical Magic (Iffraaj). His winning time of 1:22.35 was only 0.03 seconds outside of the course record set by his paternal half-brother D’Bai in the same contest last year.

Glorious Journey now has five Black Type victories to his name, including last year’s G2 Hungerford Stakes and a pair of G3 contests in France.

Dubawi, sire of 41 individual G1 winners and one of the world’s leading stallions, stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £250,000, Oct 1, SLF.
