Dubawi dominates in G3 Glorious Stakes at Goodwood

Rebel’s Romance leads home Kemari; new winner for Harry Angel

Just a day after Dubawi was responsible for G3 Gordon Stakes winner New London, the world’s best stallion sired the first two home in the G3 Glorious Stakes at Goodwood when Rebel’s Romance won from Kemari on Friday, 29 July.

Rebel’s Romance was settled off the pace under William Buick, while Kemari dictated the early fractions. Asked for his effort once turning for home, Rebel’s Romance strode up the centre of the track and while he had to work hard to pass his stablemate, battled superbly to win by a length.

Rebel’s Romance won the G2 UAE Derby at three and was last seen winning in convincing fashion on Newmarket’s July course.

He is out of the Stakes-placed Street Cry mare Minidress, dam of three winners from three foals to race. She is herself a daughter of Oaks third Short Skirt.

Also on Friday, first-season sire Harry Angel added another winner to his record when Grace Angel obliged over five furlongs at Wolverhampton.

Breaking very smartly from the stalls under Liam Wright, Grace Angel led throughout and quickened impressively close to home to win by a length and a quarter.

Bred by Ors Bloodstock, Grace Angel is out of the Oasis Dream mare Sparkle, a half-sister to Dubawi’s Stakes-winning son UAE Jewel.

Harry Angel is also sire of fellow winner and G2 placer Vicious Harry.
