Dubawi colt Worthadd wins Derby Italiano

Sons of the young stallion have now won all three colts' Classics run in Europe so far this season

Worthadd continued the tremendous run of success for his sire Dubawi when landing the G2 Derby Italiano at Capannelle on Saturday, just a week after Makfi ran away with the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket.

The Irish-bred colt, who was bred by Compagnia Generale, had already gained Classic success when winning the G3 Premio Parioli (Italian 2,000 Guineas) on 19 April. He has now claimed three Stakes races this season, including the Listed Premio Gardone, each time ridden by Mirco Demuro for trainer Vittorio Caruso.

Worthadd is one of seven Stakes winners for Dubawi, who was also represnted on Saturday by Dubawi Phantom, the runner-up in the G3 Derby Trial Stakes at Lingfield who could now head to the Irish Classics, while Anna Salai, winner of the G3 Prix de la Grotte, could also be en route to the Curragh for the Irish 1,000 Guineas after switching from Andre Fabre’s stable to that of Mahmood Al Zarooni in Newmarket.
