Double on the day for Territories

Rougir remains unbeaten at Saint-Cloud and William Bligh wins easily at Haydock

Territories sired a double on Friday, 3 July with two impressive winners in France and England.

First to strike was Rougir at Saint-Cloud, who was winning her second race in as many starts. After looking for racing room early in the straight, she showed devastating acceleration to win going away by three-quarters-of-a-length.

Rougir is a daughter of the Stakes-placed mare Summer Moon, who breeder Jan Krauze bought carrying her in December 2017 for €23,000. Rougir was a private sale as a foal and was later sold as a yearling for €55,000 at Arqana August.

Less than half-an-hour later William Bligh struck at Haydock Park, relishing the ease in the ground to win easily by three-and-a-quarter lengths. Making his third career start, he bounced out of the stalls and never saw another rival under jockey Harry Bentley.

Bred Overbury Stallions and a 50,000gns yearling, William Bligh is the fifth winner bred by the Stakes-winning mare Arabella, a granddaughter of Champion Connaught Bridge.

Territories biggest day on the track was when winning the G1 Prix Jean Prat. A close relative of top stallions Shamardal and Street Cry, as well this season’s Poule d’Essai des Poulains winner Victor Ludorum, Territories has now sired four winners with his first yearlings selling for up to €260,000.
