Diplomat stikes in Germany

Son of Teofilo wins his second G2 in the Meilen Trophy

Teofilo’s son Diplomat returned to the winners enclosure on Sunday, 15 July when taking the G2 Meilen Trophy at Cologne. The winner of the G2 Premio Presidente della Repubblica back in 2016, he was recording career win number eight when getting on top late in the mile contest.

Bred by Gestut Rottgen, he is a son of the German Champion juvenile filly Desidera, who has produced three Stakes winners including G1 Deutsches Derby second Dickens. She hails from the extended family of US Champion Animal Kingdom.

Teofilo has sired 40 Group winners including 14 that have won at the top level. This year Happy Clapper has won brace of G1s in the Doncaster Handicap and Canterbury Stakes, with his seven further Stakes winners headed by Humidor, Irishcorrespondent, Mildenberger, Bloomfield and Key Victory.
