Dartmouth dominates in the John Porter Stakes

New Group winner for Dubawi with four-and-a-half-length G3 victory

Dubawi recorded a new Group winner in magnificent style on 16 April when his four-year-old son Dartmouth ran out the decisive winner of the G3 John Porter Stakes, which had been relocated to Chelmsford due to a waterlogged course at Newbury.

Running in the colours of H M The Queen, Dartmouth was settled just off the pace on the outside under Ryan Moore. Always travelling well, he was asked for his effort approaching the two-furlong marker and soon took the lead, moving further and further clear to eventually win by four and a half lengths.

Dartmouth is out of the Group-winning Galileo mare Galatee, a half-sister to Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Arcangues plus French Guineas second Agathe (herself dam of multiple G1 winner Aquarelliste). Dartmouth is now the third Black type winner out of Galatee, with Godolphin’s useful G2 winner Manatee another of her talented performers.

Dubawi, undoubtedly one of the world’s pre-eminent sires, has now sired 11 individual Black type performers so far this year, headed by G1 Dubai Sheema Classic winner Postponed and Group-winning duo Safety Check and Sheikhzayedroad.
