Darley sires dominate in the Prix Coronation

Manduro’s Wanderina wins from Blossomtime (Shamardal) and La Patria (Dubawi)

The feature race of the day at Saint-Cloud on 22 September was the Listed Prix Coronation and the Darley stallions provided the trifecta in the one-mile contest, with victory for Manduro’s daughter Wanderina from Godolphin duo Blossomtime (Shamardal) and La Patria (Dubawi).

Always prominent under Maxime Guyon, three-year-old Wanderina was asked to quicken once entering the straight and accelerated impressively to win by three quarters of a length. Blossomtime and La Patria were separated by just a head in second and third respectively.

This was the third career victory for the Freddie Head-trained filly, who was third in the Listed Prix de la Cochere at the end of last month.

Wanderina was bred by Wertheimer et Frere and is out of the winning mare Wandering Spirit (Dashing Blade), a half-sister to two Stakes winners plus Wonder Why – herself the dam of Dubawi’s G1 Hong Kong Cup winner Akeed Mofeed.

Wanderina is one of 12 Black type performers this year for Manduro, also sire of Vazirabad, who added a sixth Group victory to his record earlier this month.
