Hascombe Stud-bred breaks his maiden well

Exceed And Excel has another well-bred juvenile to represent him in Group races this autumn following the success of Folkswood in a 7f maiden on the final day of Glorious Goodwood.

Bred by Anthony Oppenheimer's Hascombe & Valiant Studs, Folkswood is the first foal out of the unraced Galileo mare Magic Nymph. The mare's full brother Galactic Star was a Listed winner for Saeed Suhail, and also runner-up in the G3 Glorious Stakes at Glorious Goodwood in 2008, while another full-brother, El Savador, won the Irish Cesarewitch last season.

Magic Nymph and her brothers hail from a family that has been nurtured by the Oppenheimer family for over half a century, stemming back to Stop Your Tickling who was aquired privately in 1959 and went on to breed Miba, who won the Princess Elizabeth Stakes in 1965, the same year in which Sir Anthony's father Philip purchased Hascombe Stud to compliment his existing Valiant Stud. Most recently the family has been represented at the highest level by Folkswood's grandam Balisada who triumphed in the G1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot in 1999.
