Bellissima! In Italian wires the field in G3 Honey Fox Stakes

Daughter of Dubawi draws off in the lane to notch her first Graded Stakes victory

In Italian made her first foray into Graded Stakes company a winning one, going gate-to-wire on her way to posting a two-length victory in the G3 Honey Fox Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, 5 March.

With the win, the four-year-old filly by Dubawi improved her record to three wins from four starts. Her only defeat came in her debut, where she came up just a neck short of the winner.

As is her running style, In Italian broke alertly and went straight to the lead under jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. Allowed to set comfortable fractions throughout, In Italian was never headed, and kicked clear in the stretch to post a clear victory.

Bred in Great Britain by Fairway Thoroughbreds, In Italian is out of the Redoute’s Choice mare, Florentina, winner of the G3 Gold Coast Guineas and second in the G2 Furious Stakes in Australia. Florentina, a half-sister to G1 WATC Railway Stakes winner, Gathering, is also the dam of G2-placed Villa Carlotta (by Street Cry) and Stakes-placed Fasano (by Lonhro).

Dubawi has now sired 148 individual Group winners, fourth all-time and unmatched by any active stallion. Seven have won in 2022 including Lazuli, Naval Crown, Creative Flair, Royal Fleet, Desert Wisdom and Eastern World.
