Al Nayyir strikes in Listed Prix du Carrousel

Son of Dubawi gains first Stakes success at Deauville

Dubawi’s five-year-old son, Al Nayyir, gained his first Black Type success on Sunday, 30 July when landing the 3000m Listed Prix du Carrousel at Deauville, France.

Jumping well from the gates, Al Nayyir who is trained by Romain le Dren Doleuze, raced briefly on the inside rail in midfield before dropping back to the rear of the field, where he travelled smoothly under Théo Bachelot. Switching to the outside with just over 1000m to run, he gradually began to make progress before taking over the lead approaching the furlong marker, he then drew clear of the field to score by four lengths.

Al Nayyir who was bred by Godolphin, is one of four winners from the Manduro-mare Bright Beacon, whose other winners include G3 winner and G1 St Leger placed New London and Al Dabaran, winner of the Listed Pat Eddery Stakes (both by Dubawi). She also has an unraced two-year-old colt by Too Darn Hot. Bright Beacon is a half-sister to Champion stayer Masked Marvel.

Dubawi, Champion sire of 2022, has so far sired 24 Black Type horses this year including three G1 winners, Lord North (G1 Dubai Turf), In Italian (G1 Just a Game Stakes and G1 Jenny Wiley Stakes) and Modern Games (G1 Lockinge Stakes). Last weekend Dubawi’s four-year-old daughter Emily Dickinson earned further Stakes success when winning the G2 Curragh Cup by three lengths.
