Dubawi, the most successful stallion ever to stand in the UK, recorded his 200th individual Group winner on Tuesday, 21 October and in doing so, became only the third sire in history ever to reach this remarkable total.
The winning horse was juvenile filly Sugar Island, who led from pillar to post to land the G3 Staffordstown Stud Stakes (registered as the Silken Glider Stakes), run over a mile at the Curragh.
Sugar Island won on her racecourse debut at the same course back in July and finished third in last month’s G2 May Hill Stakes at Doncaster.
Bred by Westerberg, Sugar Island is out of the winning Galileo mare Heaven on Earth, herself a full sister to multiple G1 winners Minding and Tuesday.
Dubawi is the founder of his very own dynasty with over 15 stallion sons in Europe, but still at the height of his powers. 2025 has been yet another stellar year for him, with five top-flight scorers headed by Irish Champion hero Delacroix, the globetrotting Rebel's Romance and future Darley stallion Notable Speech.
His son and heir, Night Of Thunder, is himself Champion sire elect, while Too Darn Hot has made a huge impact already - headed by four-time G1 winner Fallen Angel. Ghaiyyath has also made a very impressive start to his stud career, and Space Blues already has a G1 winner in his first crop. Naval Crown’s first crop are now yearlings and have been extremely well received at the sales, with much anticipation around the first foals by five-time G1 winner Modern Games as they head to the sales in the coming weeks.
