Well deserved first Stakes victory for Soft Winds

Daughter of Night Of Thunder wins in Germany

Soft Winds, a five-year-old daughter of Night Of Thunder, won her first Black Type race when landing the Listed Großer Stutenpreis der VGH Versicherungen. Run over 2000m at Hannover, she showed her class by quickening clear after the home bend to win by nearly two lengths.

Soft Winds was gaining a well deserved first Stakes victory after placing in eight Listed or Group contests.

Bred by Godolphin, Soft Winds is a three-parts sister to UAE Classic winner Soft Whisper (Dubawi). Her dam Placidia also has a juvenile filly by Space Blues in training with Saeed bin Suroor.

Night Of Thunder has now sired 28 Stakes winners in 2026 and heads the European leading sires list. They are led by the unbeaten Bow Echo and Europe’s leading older horse Ombudsman.
