Smart new Stakes winner for Palace Pier

Rosberg shows class to land Listed Stakes at Deauville

The soft going did not prove a hindrance to Palace Pier's talented juvenile son, Rosberg, as he swept by the field to a decisive victory in the Listed Criterium du Fonds Europeen de l'Elevage over 1600m at Deauville on Saturday 22nd August.

The Karl Burke-trained colt appeared to appreciate the easy conditions and travelled well throughout, just on the heels of the leading pair. As the race began to develop, the two-year-old made his move with a wide sweep under jockey Pierre-Louis Jamin before drawing level and forging clear of the field to a very smart victory.

Bred by Genesis Green Stud, Rosberg is out of the winning mare Stay Forever (Harbour Watch) and is a half-brother to winner Ziggy's Avenger (Space Blues).

Palace Pier sired 11 Stakes horses from his first crop, among them G1 Cheveley Park filly Royal Fixation and G3 winners A Bit Of Spirit and Dr Omran. His 2025 yearlings achieved an average of £94k in the sales ring, with 54 of the 58 offered selling - 21 of those for six-figures and a 550,000gns top-lot. He leads all other second-crop sires by Black Type horses to runners.
