Shamardal’s Morgan Le Faye shines in G2 at Saint-Cloud

Talented mare lands Prix Corrida to remain unbeaten in 2019

Shamardal’s daughter Morgan Le Faye continues to go from strength to strength and on Monday, 20 May she added a third straight Black Type win to her record with a two-length victory in the G2 Prix Corrida.

Breaking smartly from the stalls under Mickael Barzalona, Andre Fabre’s charge was settled in fourth position, just off the early pace. Asked to quicken once entering the straight, Morgan Le Faye cruised to the front with a furlong left to run and moved clear close to home to win the 10-furlong contest by two lengths.

Morgan Le Faye was twice placed at G1 level last year (finishing third in the Prix du Cadran and Prix Royal Oak) and reappeared this April with a win in the Listed Prix Zarkava. She followed up with an easy victory in the G3 Prix Allez France and is now likely to return to G1 company for her next start.

Bred by Dieter Burkle and a €350,000 yearling, Morgan Le Faye is the best performer to date out of the G1 Prix du Cadran heroine Molly Malone.

Shamardal is enjoying a spectacular year so far, siring 10 individual Stakes winners including G1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches winner Castle Lady and G1 Al Quoz Sprint hero Blue Point. He has sired more European Group winners in 2019 than any other stallion.
