Fix is dominant in Classic

Iffraaj sired his second Stakes winner in less than a week on Wednesday, when his three-year-old daughter Fix recorded a dominant win in the G2 Eight Carat Classic over one mile at Ellerslie in New Zealand.

The Ken Kelso-trained filly was restrained behind the early speed and was then held up until into the long Ellerslie straight. Once asked to go on, Fix quickened impressively to run to the lead a furlong out and she was untroubled in the run to the line to defeat Soriano with Lonhro's daughter The Darling One in third.

“We’ve got options and one is to come back for the Royal Stakes." Kelso said. “She is a different filly right-handed and she proved that today and the other option is the three-year-old race back here at Ellerslie on Karaka Million night. We’ll wait and see and decide in due course.”

Fix is out of the Danehill mare Destined, a three-quarter sister to the Australian G3 winner Foreteller and the English Listed winner and sire Camacho.

Having been placed in the G1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas earlier this season, Fix becomes the 10th Stakes winner for Iffraaj and the second Stakes winner this season in New Zealand for her sire following the win of Twilight Granita in the Listed Fordel O'Leary Fillies Stakes over six furlongs at Wanganui in September. Her victory follows Dogma Noir's win in the Listed Premio UNIRE in Rome on 23 December.

Iffraaj stands at Kildangan Stud in Ireland where his fee in 2013 is set at €10,000, October 1st Special live foal.
