Wild Coco on top at Tattersalls

Talented daughter of Shirocco sells for 985,000 guineas

Trade at Tattersalls has certainly been strong this week during their December Mare Sale, and on the third day Wild Coco – a G2-winning daughter of Shirocco – was undoubtedly the star of the session when selling for 985,000 guineas.

Offered by Warren Place Stables on behalf of her owner breeders Gestut Rottgen, the four-year-old was bought by Tomoyuki Nakamura of K I Farm in Japan. Her new owner indicated after the hammer fell that she will remain in training with Henry Cecil next year.

Winner of the Listed Aphrodite Stakes at three, Wild Coco was unbeaten at four, landing the G3 Lillie Langtry Stakes en route to a gutsy victory in the G2 Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster.

She is one of five Black type winners for Shirocco in 2012, alongside G3 Curragh Cup winner Hartani and G1 Irish St Leger third and Pontefract Castle Stakes winner Brown Panther.

Shirocco, who amassed four G1 wins during his outstanding career and was rated the best in the world on his retirement, stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £7,000 October 1st Special live foal.
