Two-year-old success for Shamardal

Amaron wins the Listed Oppenheim-Rennen

The two-year-old colt Amaron, by Shamardal, won on his debut in the Listed Oppenheim-Rennen at Cologne on Sunday, July 24, in the process becoming Shamardal's 20th Stakes horse of 2011. Amaron is trained by Andreas Lowe, was bred by Genesis Green Stud and is owned by Gestut Winterhauch. Sold as a foal in December 2009 for 110,000gns, he is out of the Bertolini mare Amandalini, a half-sister to the Group 2 winner and Group 1 placed Persianlux.

European Champion at two and three, Shamardal stands at Kildangan Stud in Ireland. To date, the sire is responsible for producing 15 Group winners including four at the top level with Lope de Vega, Casamento, Faint Perfume and Captain Sonador.
