Tribalist retires to stud

Ultra-consistent G1 winner to stand at Haras de Castillon

Tribalist, one of Godolphin’s most consistent and durable performers, has been retired to stud and will stand at Benoit Jeffroy’s Haras de Castillon in Normandy from 2026.

A model of consistency and toughness, Tribalist is the most successful European Group-winning miler in the last decade, winning or placing at Stakes level no fewer than 16 times during a racing career that spanned from two to six.

His finest moment on the track came in the G1 Prix du Moulin last year, where he defeated Champion Miler Charyn and multiple G1 winner and Classic hero Notable Speech, in a time quicker than Baaeed’s – and with a higher Racing Post Rating.

Tribalist was also Stakes-placed as a juvenile and finished third in the G1 Poulains at three. His victory in this year’s G2 Prix du Muguet brought up a hat-trick of wins in the contest and he retires with nine Black Type wins to his name.

Tribalist is a son of fellow Darley stallion Farhh, sire of almost 20% Black Type horses to runners in 2025, and is one of six G1 winners to hail from the great Wiener Wald family.

Sam Bullard, Director of stallions at Darley said, “We are thrilled that Tribalist will become the first stallion to stand at Haras de Castillon in what we are sure will become a very successful partnership.

“Tribalist was a superb racehorse, and the best by Farhh in terms of Stakes/ Group wins, and we are very pleased that he will bolster Darley’s presence in France, where we expect him to be very popular with breeders.”

Benoit Jeffroy, owner of Haras de Castillon said, "I am delighted to welcome Tribalist to the stud for Godolphin. He is a horse with a very impressive record and a particularly interesting pedigree, coming from the line of Pivotal, like Siyouni. Having previously been part of the Darley nominations team after completing the Flying Start programme, it is truly satisfying to be able to collaborate with them once again to station a horse of this quality."

A fee for Tribalist will be announced at a later date.
