Tiger Hill dominates German Classic entries

Twelve Derby colts and four fillies in the Preis der Diana at this stage

Tiger Hill, who is standing his first season at Kildangan Stud in Ireland this year, is best represented of all the stallions with  horses entered in the G1 Deutsches Derby with 12 colts currently potential runners. The race will be run on Sunday, 6 July.

Tiger Hill is a German Classic winner himself having won the 2000 Guineas equivalent in 1998. He has also sired a German Oaks winner in Iota, who won the Preis der Diana three seasons ago. He has four entered for the fillies’ Classic this year from what will be his penultimate German-sired crop.

After six seasons at stud, Tiger Hill left Germany for Newmarket in 2006 and stood at Dalham Hall Stud for two seasons before switching to Kildangan.

Among the dazzling book of mares he attracted in his first season in the UK were G1 winners Petrushka (Irish Oaks, Prix de l’Opera etc.), Volvoretta (Prix Vermeille), Rebecca Sharp (Coronation Stakes), Zanzibar (Italian Oaks), May Ball (Prix Maurice de Gheest), Guadelupe (Italian Oaks), Glorosia (Ascot Fillies Mile) and Valley Of Gold (Italian Oaks). Additionally, German G1 form was still represented, as Amarette (winner of the Preis der Diana) was sent to him by his former owners, Gestut Schlenderhan.  The very strong batch of mares sent by this historic stud also included Kitcat, who is a half-sister to Tiger Hill’s G1-winning son Konistiger, so the colt which resulted from this mating is obviously very much one to look forward to.

Now yearlings, it will be no surprise if these youngsters guarantee their sire is much sought after at this autumn’s sales.

Tiger Hill stands for a fee of €20,000. Please contact out nominations team in Ireland on +353 (0)45 527600 or in the UK on +44 (0)1638 730070 for further information.
