Tiffany followed up her impressive victory in the G1 Grosser Preis von Berlin with another outstanding performance – this time at Kentucky Downs – to win the G1 Kentucky Turf Cup by one-and-three-quarter lengths over Ethical Diamond on Saturday, 5 September.
The victory by the six-year-old daughter of Farhh earned her a fees-paid berth in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf at Keeneland in October.
Layabout broke sharply and went to the front, setting sensible fractions of :25.77 and :51.02 through the opening half-mile, leading by open daylight as Tiffany and the rest left him alone up front. With a sharp turn of foot, Tiffany burst through on the rail just past the three-sixteenths pole and couldn't be caught, as Ethical Diamond, last year's former jumper turned Breeders' Cup Turf winner, chased her home.
Fort George finished third, while race favorite Burnham Square lacked a late kick and finished seventh.
Owned and bred by Elite Racing Club, Tiffany is one of six winners bred out of the winning mare Affinity, who is a sister to Champion Soviet Song, and from the family of Champion sprinter Marsha.
Farhh is the sire of four G1 winners including Darley stallion Tribalist, King Of Change and Fonteyn. Just this season he now has three Group winners from only 32 runners including the G2 Dubai Gold Cup heroine Fairy Glen.
