Progressive juvenile filly, Fallen Angel, provided first season sire Too Darn Hot with his first G1 winner on Sunday, 10 September, when landing the seven-furlong Moyglare Stud Stakes in thrilling fashion at the Curragh, Ireland. Vespertilio and Ornellaia, daughter’s of Night Of Thunder, filled second and third place respectively.
Jumping well from the stalls, Fallen Angel who is trained by Karl Burke, was soon settled to track the leader in second, travelling strongly throughout the race she was asked for an effort by Daniel Tudhope passing the two furlong pole, responding gamely the filly soon took up the lead, but was challenged by Vespertilio. The two fillies battled it out with a hundred and fifty yards left to run but Fallen Angel dug deep to get the better of her rival to post a comfortable length and a quarter victory.

The Clipper Logistics-owned filly was Too Darn Hot’s first winner and she has now won three times from four starts. Two of those victories are at Black Type level, as she also won the G3 Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket on her last run. Future plans for Fallen Angel could include a run in the G1 Fillies’Mile at Newmarket in October, in which she holds an entry.
Bred by Branton Court Stud, Fallen Angel is out of juvenile G2 winner and G1 Fillies Mile second Agnes Stewart (Lawman), she is also responsible for Black Type performer, Divine Jewel.
Too Darn Hot, who was himself a Champion juvenile, has so far sired 14 individual winners, three of those have won at Group level. Headed by Fallen Angel, they also include Darnation who won the G3 Prestige Stakes at Goodwood and Caroline Reaper, successful in the G3 Zukunfts Rennen at Baden-Baden two weeks ago.
