Third Group win for son of New Approach

Cascadian reels in the leaders to take the G2 Peter Young Stakes

Cascadian (New Approach) added a third Group victory when taking the G2 Peter Young Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday, 26 February. Racing on the rail, Cascadian chased the leaders, switching right with just under two furlongs to travel. Driven in the final furlong by jockey Damien Oliver, Cascadian reeled in his rivals to win by half a length.

A Godolphin homebred, Cascadian is a half-brother to G1 Summer Stakes winner Albahr out of the G3-winning Street Cry mare Falls Of Lora. She is a half-sister to G2 Superlative Stakes winner Master Of The Seas and G1-placed Latharnach, themselves out of Poule d’Essai des Poulinches second Firth Of Lorne.

Winner of the G1 Doncaster Mile last season, Cascadian is one of nine top-flight winners for his sire New Approach alongside G1 Derby hero Masar and G1 Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Mac Swiney.

New Approach stands at Dalham Hall Stud and is private this season.
