Telecaster rocks at Deauville

Son of New Approach makes all to win G2 Grand Prix de Deauville

Telecaster, a son of New Approach, added a third victory at Group level when taking the G2 Grand Prix de Deauville over 2500m at Deauville on Sunday, 30 August. Winner of the G2 Dante last season and G3 La Coupe earlier this year, the four-year-old colt jumped swiftly to the fore under a confident ride by jockey Christophe Soumillon. Travelling comfortably at the two-furlong pole, Telecaster dutifully obliged when asked to quicken, pulling away from the chasing field in commanding style.

Bred by Meon Valley Stud, Telecaster is the second foal and best performer to date out of the multiple G1 performer Shirocco Star (Shirocco). She is out of a winning half-sister to G3 Tetrarch Stakes winner and G1 Irish Two Thousand Guineas second France and to the Listed-winning Hippy Hippy Shake, dam of Listed-winning and G3-placed Twist ‘N’ Shake.

European Champion New Approach is the sire of seven individual G1 winners including three Classic winners in Masar, Talent and Dawn Approach. He is also the sire of seven Group winners this season, most recently with the G2-winning juvenile Mac Swiney. Further Group victories this year include Magic Lily in the G2 Balanchine Stakes and Cascadian in the G3 Doncaster Prelude.
