Sweet success for Spanish Honey in Listed Grosser Preis von Rossmann

Daughter of Iffraaj strikes in Germany

Spanish Honey, a five-year-old daughter of Iffraaj, earned a well-deserved first Stakes victory on Monday, 1 May when striking in the 1600m Listed Grosser Preis von Rossmann at Hannover in Germany.

Trained by Gianluca Bietolini, Spanish Honey who is already the winner of six races in France, sat handy throughout the race under Leon Wolff, entering the straight she was ridden to the outside where she soon took up the lead and holding off a brave challenge from Cantilena (Dubawi) and Task in the closing stages, she went on to and score by half a length.

Bred in Ireland by Hamidreza Mojtahedzadeh, Spanish Honey is out of the Unbridled’s Song mare, Desert Song, she has bred three other winners.

Iffraaj is the sire of 11 winners at the highest level, including four-time G1 hero Ribchester, Jungle Cat, Jon Snow and young sire Wootton Bassett. He has also enjoyed recent success in the southern hemisphere with Group wins for Sakura Girl and Perfect Scenario.
