Strathspey records her first Group win

Daughter of New Approach lands the G2 Prix de Malleret

New Approach’s three-year-old daughter Strathspey, who only made her career debut in May this season, stepped up into Stakes class in style when landing the G2 Prix de Malleret. Run over a mile-and-a-half at Saint-Cloud, she needed every yard of the distance to lead on the line to beat Listen In wth Raven’s Pass’s daughter Elas Ruby back in third. She has now won two of her three starts having come into the race on the back of a victory at Lyon-Parilly.

A daughter of the Shamardal mare Perfect Note, Strathspey is a full-sister to the German Stakes-performer Romance Story. She is the granddaughter of the Prix Vermeille heroine Mezzo Soprano and hails from the extended family of Singspiel and Rahy. Perfect Note also has a two-year-old filly by Dubawi, called Demisharp, a yearling colt by Teofilo and has been scanned in-foal this year to the Derby winner Golden Horn.

New Approach has sired 31 lifetime Stakes winners including Champion Dawn Approach, who had his first winner Saturday evening at Newcastle, Classic winners Talent and May’s Dream, and last season’s European G1 winners Potemkin and Elliptique.
