Stakes win number five for Potemkin

Son of New Approach wins the Listed Grand Prix de la Region Grand Est in France

German raider Potemkin successfully returned to the winners enclose on Sunday 30, September when taking the Listed Grand Prix de la Region Grand Est at Strasbourg in France. Run over 2100m, the Andreas Wohler-trained gelding triumphed by a length to record career win number 12.

Now the winner of five career Stakes victories, Potemkin had won three Group races in 2016 including a top-flight triumph in the Premio Roma.

Bred by Stiftung Gestut Fahrhof, Potemkin is a son of the Stakes-placed mare Praia (Big Shuffle) and a half-brother to the German Stakes winner Paraisa. Praia also has a Dubawi colt foal born earlier this year.

New Approach has sired 15 Stakes performers this season including Derby hero Masar, two G2-winning three-year-olds in Loxley and Waldlied and G1-milers Hey Gaman and Cascadian.
