The Soultaker takes the shortcuts to win G3 Bonecrusher Stakes

Second stakes victory for classy Iffraaj colt

Promising Iffraaj colt The Soultaker has returned as a three-year-old to win the G3 Bonecrusher Stakes (1400m) at Ellerslie on September 24.

His second win at Stakes level, the Donna Logan and Chris Gibbs-trained colt settled behind the speed for jockey Mark Du Plessis and when many of his rivals chose to fan wide on the track, The Soultaker stuck closest to the rails and was strong to the line over 1400m.

The Soultaker was also a juvenile winner who won the Listed Murdoch Newell Stakes (1100m) last November.

Bred by George Simon, who also bred Iffraaj G1 winner Turn Me Loose, The Soultaker is out of Reset mare Miranda Miss, a daughter of Stakes winner Marie Claire. Miranda Miss also has a two-year-old filly by Iffraaj.

The Soultaker is one of 39 Stakes winners for his sire Iffraaj, who has also produced G1 winners Turn Me Loose, Rizeena, Chriselliam, Benvenue and Wootton Bassett.
