Son of Buratino claims first Black Type honours

Game Snapraeterea lands Listed Owenstown Stud Stakes

Snapraeterea, a three-year-old son of Buratino, claimed a breakthrough Stakes win in the Listed Owenstown Stud Stakes over seven furlongs at Naas on Sunday, 16 May.

Making all before challenged a furlong out, the first-crop son fought gamely from the pressing Lustown Baba, staying on well to clinch victory by half a length.

Owned and bred by J P Farrell, Snapraeterea is a half-brother to dual G3-placed Snapraeceps. They are out of the winning Alamshar mare Snap Alam, herself out of a Lycius half-sister to the dam of Spanish Champions Pearlside and Baldoria. This is the extended family of G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf hero and Champion Kalanisi.

Winner of the G2 Coventry Stakes as a two-year-old, Buratino supplied 14 first-crop winners in 2020 including the aforementioned Snapraeterea, who was also placed in the G2 Beresford Stakes.

The son of Exceed And Excel stands this season at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €5,000 Oct 1, SLF.
