Siyaadah lands UAE 1000 Guineas

Daughter of Shamardal becomes the seventh Black type winner for her promising young sire

Shamardal’s three-year-old daughter Siyaadah provided Godolphin with their seventh winner of the UAE 1000 Guineas on 11 February, sweeping down the Meydan straight to land the one-mile contest in impressive style.

Settled at the rear of the field under Ahmed Ajtebi, Siyaadah looked to have plenty to do approaching the turn but once asked to quicken in the straight, showed an devastating turn of foot and sweept past her rivals to take the race by a length from Ayun Tara.

Bred by Lofts Hall Stud, Siyaadah is the first foal to race out of the G2-winning, G1-placed Lahib mare River Belle.

Shamardal, Europe’s leading first-season sire of 2009, has now sired seven individual Black type winners, including the outstanding G1 VRC Oaks winner Faint Perfume, plus fellow Group winners Shakespearean, Arctic and Shamoline Warrior.

Also at Meydan, El Cambio (Commands) posted a creditable performance on his first run for Godolphin when third in the G3 Al Shindagha Sprint.
