Sharestan wins Curragh Listed contest

Shamardal sires his 36th stakes winner

Sharestan became Shamardal’s 36th stakes winner with a gritty performance in the Coolmore Stud Ireland China Friendship Silver Stakes over ten furlongs at the Curragh on Sunday.

The Aga Khan-bred four-year-old has now won three of his six starts and finished runner-up by a head to Curragh stalwart famous name in the Listed Heritage Stakes in April before taking third in the Group 3 Mooresbridge Stakes the following month.

Out of the Ashkalani mare Sharesha, Sharestan is a half-brother to Group Three winner Shareen and the Listed-placed Sharleez, and hails from the further family of Derby winner Sharastani.

He is the second stakes winner by Shamardal for the Aga Khan this season following the success of Sagawara in the G1 Prix Saint-Alary at Longchamp last month.

Among Shamardal’s six other Group One winners are the dual Classic hero Lope De Vega, top juvenile Casamento and VRC Oaks winner Faint Perfume.
