Shamardal’s excellent run continues

Queen Power wins her first Stakes race at Newbury

Shamardal, who has been enjoying a superb season, sired his tenth Stakes winner of 2019 when his three-year-old daughter Queen Power landed the Listed Fillies’ Trial Stakes at Newbury. Held up in the rear early, the Sir Michael Stoute trained filly came with a withering late run to land the spoils near the line by a neck.

Queen Power has now won two of her three career starts, supplementing her juvenile victory at Newmarket last season.

Bred by Roundhill Stud, Queen Power is a full-sister to three-time Group winner Puissance de Lune, and a half-sister to this season’s G3 Earl Of Sefton Stakes winner Zabeel Prince. Her dam, Princess Serena, has also produced Serena’s Storm, who is herself the dam of Iffraaj’s G1 Coronation Stakes winner Rizeena.

Shamardal has now sired ten Stakes winners on the year including recent Classic winner Castle Lady and star sprinter Blue Point, winner of the G1 Al Quoz Sprint in Dubai. He leads all stallions by the number of European Group winners this season.
