Shamardal’s multiple Group winner Usherette scores seventh career win in France

Makes determined winning run in the Prix de la Cochere

Winner of two Group events last year in England, Shamardal’s daughter Usherette was placed in three of four races this year, including the G1 Prix d’Ispahan, prior to her start in the Listed Prix de la Cochere on September 5th, 2017.  The Godolphin color bearer didn’t disappoint while winning for the seventh time in her career. Dubawai's Ettisaal placed third.

In this one-mile event at Maissons-Laffitte, the five-year-old settled into her normal race routine which found her towards the back of the field for most of the race. As the field made their final advance towards the finish line, Usherette found her best stride and wore down her opponents while pulling away at the wire.

Usherette was bred by Darley and is a full sister to SW/G3-placed Show Day. They were produced from the Stakes-placed Maria’s Mon mare Monday Show, herself a half-sister to G2 winner Expansion. She is from the family of multiple G1 winner Vespone.

Shamardal is represented by 22 Stakes performers in 2017 – 15 of those in Group company – including a total of five at the highest level. These include the Commonwealth Cup place-getter Blue Point, Classic-filly Heuristique as well as Usherette.
