Shamardal records his thirteenth winner

Sand Skier glides to victory at Hamilton

Sand Skier got off the mark at the third time of asking to become winner number thirteen for Shamardal in the northern hemisphere.

Trained by Mark Johnston, who also trained Shamardal as a two-year-old, the colt won the six-furlong (1200m) EBF maiden by four lengths, having finished runner-up on his last start on 1 September.

Sand Skier, who sold for 150,000gns at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, is the first foal of King's Best’s Group One-winning daughter Dubai Surprise.

Shamardal’s winners in Europe include the unbeaten Arctic, winner of the G3 Round Tower Stakes, and Sand Skier’s Group-winning stablemate Shakespearean, both of whom are entered in the G1 Dewhurst Stakes on 17 October.
