Seventh winner for Country Reel

Daniel Des Evees scores on debut at Clairefontaine to add to first-season sire’s tally

The Carlos Lerner-trained Daniel Des Evees made a promising first appearance on the racecourse to land Clairefontaine’s seven-furlong maiden by half a length on Saturday.

Bred by D Cherdo, the Country Reel colt runs in the colours of Julian Ince, who will be doubly pleased by his success as he also stands his sire at Haras du Logis in Normandy.

A half-brother to the Group Three winner Varevees, Daniel Des Evees is out of Danse Bretonne, a daughter of Exit To Nowhere and half-sister to Kaldounevees, who also has a yearling filly by Europe’s leading first-crop sire Shamardal.

Country Reel is now the sire of seven winners in Europe, including the Listed winner Go Country.
