Second Stakes win for son of Shirocco

Ibicenco flashes home to claim the Listed Slickpix Stakes

Shirocco has a legitimate Melbourne Cup contender after his son Ibicenco resumed from a brief spell with a scintillating win in the Listed Slickpix Stakes at Caulfield, Australia.

Trained by leading Australian conditioner Peter Moody, it was Ibicenco’s second Stakes win in Australia following his win in the Listed Sandown Cup last November when he was trained by Luca Cumani.

After settling back in the field from the inside barrier, jockey Brad Rawiller weaved a path through the field in the home straight, with the six-year-old claiming the lead in the final few strides.

Bred by Gestut Schlenderhan, Ibicenco is a half-brother to Irian, the 2009 Champion 3YO Male Miler in Germany, who won the G1 Mehl Mulhens Rennen as well as the G2 Jockey Club Cup in Hong Kong.

Shirocco is the sire of 11 Stakes winners including recent G2 Goodwood Cup winner Brown Panther and fellow G2 winners Arrigo, Wild Coco and Grand Vent.
