Second Stakes win for Jardina

Daughter of Shirocco lands one-mile Listed contest at Hannover

Jardina, a four-year-old daughter of Shirocco, recorded her second victory at Stakes level on 28 May when landing the Listed Hannoverschen Volksbank at Hannover, Germany.

Settled just off the pace, the Peter Schiergen-trained filly encountered some traffic problems entering the home straight but once the gap opened up, she soon picked up and won by a neck from last year's German Guineas second Wolkenburg, with the pair two and a half lengths clear of the third-placed horse.

Bred by Jurgen Imm, Jardina is out of the Stakes-winning mare Juvena, who is dam of two further winners.

Shirocco has sired five Black type perfomers so far this year, including Cheshire Oaks winner Good Morning Star, and Oaks contender Shirocco Star.
