Run of success continues for Shamardal

Fintry lands Listed Prix Volterra by six to become his 11th 3yo winner in May – more than any other northern hemisphere sire

The month of May is not even halfway through but already Shamardal has sired an outstanding 11 individual three-year-old winners, making him the most prolific sire in the northern hemisphere in this age group.

On 13 May, his daughter Fintry made a hugely successful Stakes debut when landing the one-mile Listed Prix Volterra by no fewer than six lengths at Chantilly, where earlier in the day Elemraan had won on his debut to become three-year-old winner number ten for his sire.

Fintry, who was bred by Darley, is out of the G3 winner and G1 placed Indian Ridge mare Campsie Fells, who was bred in the UAE.

She is one of 12 individual Stakes winners so far this year for Shamardal, also sire of three G2 winners in Excellent Result, Ghibellines and Sommerabend, plus recent Guineas third and hot Oaks contender Ihtimal.
